Children and their Families

Immanuel seeks to accompany families of all kinds as they teach their children and grow in faith alongside them. Grandparents, aunts and uncles, and other loved ones work together to nurture the spiritual formation of Immanuel’s children.

Ministries and Activities

Sunday School

Sundays 9:15am

Classes are offered for babies–three years old, four–kindergarteners, 1st–3rd graders, and 4th–6th graders. Sunday school is focused on Bible Study. Our teachers are enthusiastic about teaching and provide interactive activities to make learning fun and engaging.

Children’s Choir

Wednesdays 5:00pm

In our children’s choir 1st-6th graders learn about worship, sing songs, and play instruments in the Choir Room. Children perform periodically at gatherings and services. At 5:40pm children join their families in the Fellowship Hall for dinner.

Children on Mission

Wednesdays 6:00pm

Children on Mission meets in Room 2314 and involves 1st–6th graders. Children do hands-on service projects such as: preparing snack sacks for the homeless, creating cards and crafts for senior adults, and visiting our church members with limited mobility. Childcare for younger children is provided in the nursery.

Family VBS

The last several years we have engaged both children and their families in a multi-generational Vacation Bible School. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, as well as other loving adults join together to participate in faith formation together: learning scripture, making crafts, singing songs, and learning about how to seek God in our daily lives.

Passport Kids Camp

PASSPORT KIDS is open to children who have completed grades 3–6. Immanuel kids join with kids from other churches and locations for an ecumenical, interdenominational camp experience. Camp includes worship, Bible study, and recreation paired with hands-on missions education. Each year’s mission theme educates children about new places and people groups, with a focus on how to be a good neighbor both locally and globally.

Library Collection

Our church library has an incredible kids section, curated by our librarians, who are retired professionals. You will find both sacred and secular selections for school age children through teens. Our summer reading program is also a fun way to keep kids learning and imagining over the summer months.

Children’s Church

Once a month, children in grades 1 to 6 are invited to participate in Children’s Church (Extended session is available for younger children as it is on other Sundays). We meet in our Sunday School Classes at 9:15am, learn our Bible lesson for the day, make crafts or play games related to the lesson, and then at the 10:30am worship hour, we move from our Sunday School Rooms to the Fellowship Hall where we set up a focal alter with our crafts and projects. Pastor Stephanie crafts the liturgy with lots of opportunities for children to read, act out the Bible story, sing, move, and so forth. We learn about the focal scripture passage for the day as well as about the different elements of worship, what they mean, and our part in designing worship.
