Coming This Sunday

January 8: Who is happy? Many derive their happiness mainly from contrast.  Like the man who has a toothache, and therefore thinks happiness consists in not having a toothache.  But happiness is less a thing pursued and more a thing that ensues.  The psalmist begins the Psalter with a beatitude: “Happy is the man.”  What he describes is a way of living open to God’s instruction.  Happiness ensues such a man/woman.  Join me this Sunday as we begin the new year considering the root of happiness.  —Pastor Steven
