Sermon Title:

Coming This Sunday, April 15

"Resurrection Fellowship"   1 John 1.1-2.2

Sermon by Kenny Cooper

Coming This Sunday

April 8: According to the evangelist John, Mary was the first to the tomb on the first day of the week.  Sunday for the Jews was a day a lot like our Monday; it was a time when everything returned to  normal.  With the death of Jesus, the first day of the week was anything but normal.  Join me Easter and hear again the good news of the resurrection.  Come with hearts attuned to the power of Easter to shape our present reality. —Pastor Steven

Sermon Title:

The Weather Report

We have stepped into the furrow of a new season.  Dormant plant life blooms and sprouts. The soil warms and seed germinate. A sleeping force is awakened by the increased daylight. Complete with its thunder and rain, spring recurs.

Sermon Title:

Coming This Sunday

Palm Sunday, April 1: Our final character in search their author is a civil servant.  Pilate, the prefect of Judea, meets Jesus.  When Jesus says, “Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice,” he extends an invitation to Pilate  to be saved.  In that moment he has a choice.  The story says he walked away, shrugging his shoulder, writing another memorandum.  One might say that Pilate stopped looking.

Sermon Title:

Coming This Sunday March 25

March 25: Martha, the sister of Mary and Lazarus, was a practical woman.  She is accustomed to the way things commonly work, should work.  But practical people struggle when things go very wrong, i.e. the premature death of a brother.  Martha believes that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, but does not yet believe in his power to give life.  Thus her rejoin, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”  When the world is too much with us and leaves us anxious, belief is vulnerable.
