Roughly one hundred and fifty years before Martin Luther, an Englishman named John Wycliffe translated the Bible into English. As large numbers of men and women achieved literacy, people began to read the Bible. This may be deemed the best outcome of the Protestant Reformation seeing that the study of scripture is transformative.

October Senior Adult Meeting

On Thursday, October 3, local author Ridley Wills will be the guest speaker at the Senior Adult Meeting. The program will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall, and lunch will be served afterwards. If you would like to make a reservation for lunch, contactd Jean Sharpe by Thursday, September 28.

Reformation Concert

On Sunday, October 29, at 5:00 p.m., you are invited to join us for a concert celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Immanuel's choir and soloists will be joined by Music City Baroque, Nashville's premier ensemble of period instruments, as they sing music of Bach. We will also have unaccompanied music from the English church and familiar congregational hymns from our Reformation forebears that are still sung today.

Hurricane Irma Recovery

Our congregation responded generously in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, sending over $3,000 to South Main Baptist Church in Houston. South Main is serving as the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship's base of operations for the recovery work in Houston.
