The Season of Lent - Services and Resources

During the season of Lent, the Worship Committee has planned a series of worship experiences that will guide our community of faith on our journey to the cross:

Wednesday, March 4 - Reflections on Shame and Guilt, 6:15 p.m. in Fellowship Hall (led by Melanie Dover)
Wednesday, March 11 - Reflections on Worries and Distractions, 6:15 p.m. in Fellowship Hall (led by Tambi Swiney)
Wednesday, March 18 - Reflections on Waiting and Longing, 6:15 p.m. in Fellowship Hall (led by Nathan Huguley)
Thursday, April 3 - Maundy Thursday Service, 6:15 p.m. in the sanctuary
Friday, April 4 - Good Friday Service, 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary

Each Monday during Lent, everyone who is on the church's email distribution list will be receiving a message that will include the Gospel reading for the week, a hymn text that we will sing in worship, and a prayer written by a member of the Worship Committee. During Holy Week, a daily devotion based on the lectionary reading from the Gospel of John will be distributed via email. The Committee hopes these messages will be helpful in your private devotions as you prepare for worship.

Because private devotions are  a meaningful part of the Christian life, especially during Lent, the Worship Committee encourages you to consider using the daily devotions from, a daily devotional website produced by Passport, Inc. Other online resources recommended by the Worship Committee include: daily devotions from the Henri Nouwen Society; daily meditations from Richard Rohr; Lenten devotions from the Society of St. Andrew. If you prefer print resources, consider Bread and Wine: Readings for Lent and Easter, featuring essays by C. S. Lewis, G. K. Chesteron, Madeleine L'Engle, Dorothy Day, Frederick Buechner, and others, or The Awkward Season: Prayers for Lent by Pamela C. Hawkins.
